'86 230E Cooling fan issue
Hello. On my 230E, I realized that the cooling fan is free from any mechanical resistance. One push with the finger and it spins freely. Also it does not seem to be spinning when the engine is idling. I started to notice the engine heats up into 80 Centigrates when I am stuck in traffic for long periods. On normal cruising there is no problem.
I looked for the parts and I saw something called a Fan Clutch. Would this be the part to replace? Or anything else? Thanks for any help! Cheers Vedat |

Does it have a magnetic fan? Some of the M102s have a system that energises a magnetic coupling at a particular temperature. When it isn't energised it flops about and doesn't do much - it looks like it is broken - but when the engine gets hot it should work...
