190e 16v head gasket

my 16v is leaking a small amount of oil. the oil appears to be coming from just below the exhaust manifold. does this sound like the head gasket? if so, how much should i expect to pay to have this replaced? i'm sure it won't be cheap but i want to get an idea. since i'll would be paying mostly for the labor to take the head off, what else should i have done while it's off?

thanks

upon closer inspection, it appears that the oil might be coming from a different area. there is a what looks like an allen bolt and possibly a washer and gasket on the block right next to the alternator. it's very large. it is forward and down from the front of the exhaust manifold. what is this thing and what do i have to do to stop the oil from leaking?

thanks

Hey jasondew

I actually have a simular problem, it hasn't been full confirmed yet, im trying one more desprite measure....Anyway my headgasket is/might be leaking coolent and the pistons might be compressing the coolent, SO to ur question someone told me around 1200-1800....I know, a hell of a lot of money just for a $20 part...if u were a real DIY you could do it and save a lot of money, but it's just too much work for me.

Well good luck, hope this helps
