New 190E owner with some quick ??'s
The road to a 'perfect' 190 is in sight, but I could use a little guidance.
-How are the climate controls illuminated? Fiber optic or do they have a single bulb that sends lights to the panel? If fiber optic where is the source bulb. I have yet to rip into this area of the car as I have had bigger fish to fry but they are not lit. Kinda irritating. Thanks, Christian |

There is a bulb in the unit that lights up a fiber optic bar. The blower selector switch has the same setup. If only one is out it's probably just the bulb. If both are out, including the radio, check the condition of the outside temp display on the cluster.

Now that you mention it, how does the outside temp display come into play. Its working fine, and lit. Just curious. |

Connector 58d... Didn't even have to look it up. I studied wiring diagrams for months. Pulled the dash to check out 58d. It was fine. I replaced the outdoor temp display and suddenly the blower selector, climate buttons, and radio lit up. Must be part of the positive side of the circuit.
My temp display had a burn mark in the lcd and was not working. It still doesn't read the temp. That probe was cut at some point and probably the source of the short. Last edited by liquiddog; 06-18-2014 at 10:07 PM. |
