300 E CARBURATOR CONVERSION

Dear Srs,

I have a lot of trouble with the fuel pumps in my 300e 1990 w124, to the point of seeking for alternatives.

Is it possible to adapt a regular (low pressure) electric fuel pump in place of the super complex high pressure 2 pump system, and a two barrel carburetor on top of the intake manifold?, has anybody tried it?

Any advice will be welcome, I know it might sound crazy, but here in Nuevo Laredo there is not any Mercedes Benz qualified mechanic, in fact there is not any qualified mechanic.

thanks
