Fuse and relay location for secondary air pump 2001 E430
Hi everyone,
I got a p0410 code on my car and from what Ive read its related to the secondary air pump. I ran power directly to the air pump and it works. I replaced some cracked vacuum hoses, but that didn't do the trick either. I would like to check the related fuse and relay, but I have no idea where they are located or labeled as. Anyone with some insight? Thanks

The fuse ( 40 amp I think ) should be in the passenger side under hood box, you will need to remove allen bolts that hold the cover on.
The air pump should run at cold start up for a minute or so then for a few seconds once the engine is warmed up and you come to a stop. ( This second run looks for the O2 sensor voltage to drop when the pump is running. ) Search this site for air pump / emission failure. I think your engine type has issues with the air passages in the head clogging with carbon. |

My comment is eight months late, but I have some experience to share on the top of E430 air passages getting clogged. I changed my valve cover gaskets and discovered air passages in the valve covers were completely blocked. I had already changed my EGR valve in response to Check Engine Light. No problems with E430 vacuum or exhaust gas issues since.
