Nice case of 'the cheapest & easiest option fixed the problem'. Congrats carman! While your other work didn't fix the problem, at least you've taken care of many maintenance items that you won't have to worry about for awhile.

I was luckier with my E420, it has always idled like glass - hard to tell it's running sometimes. I hope yours becomes more like this. These engines are so awesome!
