New motor mount too tall?
I must be missing something simple.
I read several times what the info on how to change the motor mounts from the DIY section. I have the exact part number match from the Pelican parts order section. Yet, with the motor as high as it will go (it contacts the bottom of the firewall) it seems that the new motor mount is about 1/2" too tall to slide under the motor mount arm to install it. What am I missing? Thanks.

What car is this on? Did you already replace one side or are you just starting with one side and it's not cooperating? Either way, once the engine is on the mount it should settle slightly.
Every now and then I'll loosen the other side to give me a bit more room to play with, it'll also let me shimmy the engine side to side a bit to seat the mount in place. I can't help but think I started doing this because if there was an old collapsed mount on one side, I'd have trouble putting a mount in on the other.

I change one at a time, this way you can tilt the motor and get more distance then lifting straight up.
On some cars you may have to remove the motor mount bracket. |

One at a time- says Wayne
According to Wayne's instructions, I must not disconnect both mounts at the same time. So for my 90 300E, I loosen the driver's side while I've removed the passenger side and see if I can tilt the motor enough to get the room I need. Additionally, I try to compress the mount a little in my bench vice to see if that will somehow shorten it (I think it will just expand back to its original height, but it might save 1/4 inch and make it easier.
Even if I unbolt the arm to the engine, I don' see how I'll be able to bolt the arm back on once I've attached the mount. I'll report back. Thanks.
