Anyone Know of TSB for C240 Ignition Switch?
I am about to take my '01 C240 in for its first service.
It has an intermittent problem: Sometimes when you start the car, the car will start and run fine, except the interior electrics (the entire dash, gauges, lights, radio, windows, etc) remain dead! Also, when this happens, one of the electric engine cooling fans goes full blast (really noisy!). If you turn the car off and restart, it goes back to normal. I'd like them to address this issue at the service. But my concern is that since they won't be able to replicate it (it only does it once every couple of months), they won't do anything. I've heard there may be a TSB for the electronic ignition switch. That would be helpful to point out. Any other thoughts? (PS. They keys have already been replaced with the updated keys. It had the problem above with both the old and the new keys). Thanks! |

Brian,
I'm sorry to hear of your problems. I don't know of a TSB on the switch itself, but there IS one for the key. Mine started not remotely locking every time. I found that there is an update on the key and they replaced both of the remotes. Hope this helps, |

Thanks Larry. I had the same problem that you are having with the keys, they updated them and I have been fine since.
I was hoping the updated keys would also solve the ignition switch problem, but they did not. |

A Client of mine bought a new C320 and within the first month,t he same thing was happeneing to her, except all the time. The dealer ended up replacing most of the computers and everything in the cluster. She hasn't had the problem since.
I don't know if that will help, but you aren't the only one who has had this happen... Alon

That's what I am afraid will eventually happen to mine - intermittent until 4 years and one day - then happens constantly so I have to pay to replace the entire dash and electronics.
I think I am going to present my car at the service with a letter explaining the problem. That way if it happens after the warranty, I will tell them I told them about the problem during the warranty period, but they refused to fix it. |
