W201 rear sway bar size
I was just wondering about this, if anyone has accurate info. The rear sway bar in my 190E Sportline is 13mm and the parts number is correct. I thought they were supposed to be bigger?

I'll measure mine for you tomorrow. 13mm sounds about right though. Spindly little thing fitted to plastic joints...

I figured the Sportline bar should be thicker since the 16 valve bar is 16mm and I think the standard bar is 14mm. I can get a 19mm bar from Hedgehog Motorsports for $130 plus shipping from Thailand so I think I might go for that at some point.

Hedgehogs blog seems really outdated, I remember them from a couple years ago.
Where are you seeing current product and prices?

As for your other thread, the Sportline has different steering wheel, seats, rims, springs, lower control arms, steering gear, different sway bars (front is definitely thicker than stock) and bushings for the sway bars. I did a thread on Benzworld with all of the different parts numbers. Just funny that the rear bar is smaller than the normal one.
As for Hedgehog's current pricing, they have a Facebook page which you can message. Fairly responsive and reasonable pricing. Other options for a slight increase in stiffness would be to double up on the rear sway bars. I know it's been done on a w126, same idea for the w201. Also if you have any leftover bits on that LE to sell, I am looking for a few parts such as rims (if in decent shape) and a seat bottom where the leather isn't torn. |
