If any of these trigger a check engine light, it will fail an emissions test even if all of the monitors are set.

Thanks, Had the codes checked by my Indy and the dealer - both said the same thing. I suspect the code # is on the MB receipt - I'll have to dig it out and see what # they quoted but both said the same thing - balance shaft issues. I did speak to one of the guys in the Parts Dept that I got friendly with over the years when I was maintaining my W124 - he and my Service Advisor said the same things at different times, basically with the engine code I have I could get many years from my E350. They also said some customers were disappointed when their engine was repaired and it drove the same as before. At the moment I have what I think is a shift selector issue (have to get the codes read to be sure) - then hopefully I can replace the shifter and drive it for a few years.

2006 E350 Not Starting
re emissions test - thanks, thankfully my area does not require an emissions test, so that's not an issue.
