For the 3 time in as many months, I will be driving and go to make a turn and without any warning the car is dead. I don't even notice except the wheel becomes hard to turn. There is no noise or any problems before or after it happens. I usally just put it in neutral while the car is still rolling and it starts right up and I throw it in drive and everything is fine. It only happens about once a month. Any thoughts of what I can check?

Thanks,
Chris Prestridge

Well if you are lucky then the problem might be the "overvoltage relay". About $70 & easy to install.
If not, then have the air flow sensor checked out. This causes "your" type of problem most of the time!!

This sounds like the same stalling problem that I listed below with my car '89/190E. Mine also used to do this about once a month and know it does it at least once a day.

Be sure to check the fuel pump relay for the once in a month stall...Also have seen the overvoltage relay as MB DOC said.

Benzmac,

Is it your opinion that my problem and Chris' problem are not the same?

Chris,

I'm going to the dealer on Friday, I'll tell you what their diagnosis was.

That's hard to say, the only real way to know is to have the both of them properly diagnosed.

Do you have any idea how to
diagnose these 2 relays ?
According to my local dealer,
the only way is to replace it.
Any comments ?

What they mean is that if you have a tech connect the needed testers and spend the time untill it fails, you could have replaced the relays two times over. The relays were known defective!!
