What are the two little shocks on the front of the engine, one on each side? Are they engine stabilizers and if so how can i test to see if they are o.k? 89 420sel

They are actually little shock absorbers between the engine and chassis. Supposed to help reduce engine movement that is felt while driving. If you take them out and can compress/decompress fast and with a minimum of stiffness then they are worn out. This is the way you can check the steering damper too.
