88 560 SL Water Pump

It seems Mercedes-Benz has discontinued this part which is surprising. Given that, is there a “best” or “avoid” aftermarket brand?

Check out the water pump "sticky". It looks like new aftermarket is all that's available for our vintage cars, or you might be able to find rebuilt through the usual auto parts chains, but I wouldn't trust them

There used to be a reliable rebuilder near me that rebuilt my OE water pumps, but they moved years ago, but since I drive a lot less now water pumps last longer.

Ask on the Benzworld R/C107 forum. Many 560SL owners there. MB discontinue some standard parts when there are quality aftermarket parts available, often made by the OE manufacturer.

I bought a Laso water pump for my 72 107. Not many vendors carry them, They were an OE supplier, I believe. Graf is another. Both available here:

Randy, ask your local MB dealer if they can provide you with a rebuilt original water pump.
