1987 300e Ignition lock removal -- help please

The ignition lock went today. It was very difficult to get the key in and then moderately difficult to turn. But I did both and have not removed the key. I have read the posts on the tumbler removal procedure and understand key position 1, wire in holes and remove. My problem is with the cover piece. I'm not sure if it is the pry off type or screw off type. Does it unscrew to the left? How much pressure does it need to pop-off? And the dreaded question, do I need to remove the key to take off the black plastic trim piece and then muck about to get the key back in for tumbler replacement?

I will be visiting the dealer on Monday for a new tumbler and key but would like to replace this myself.

This is the second tumbler. It was replaced once by the dealer about 4 years ago to fix the a/c problem that once can find in the archives.

Thanks,
Garth
