As read from the Repairing Manuals, as the distributor spins faster the weights on the shaft move outward and the centre points cam or trigger rotor is advanced on the shaft it rotates, and this shaft requires periodical lubrication.

Anyone has the experience how to clean and lubricate this shaft? TKS!

Hi,
Under the ignition rotor there is a piece of felt in the top of the distributor shaft. A few drops of light oil on the felt is sufficient to lube the distributor shaft. Most of the distributors made after 1978 have an epoxy coating on the upper section of the distributor shaft and are less prone to siezing and wear problems found on earlier versions.

They usually are not normal wear items.
