Low oil level light on

I just changed the oil in the '99 E300 and checked the level this morning before heading to work and the oil level was between the high and low mark on the stick. The 'Low Oil level' Light came on while driving. This sensor had been replaced recently and the question is could the new sensor be bad too or has anybody any suggestions as to what is going on?
