check engine light on 94 E320

Our 94 E320 had a check engine light come on last Friday evening.
I called a local service shop and the dealer we bought it from and they both explained...if the coolant is full, oil is up to level and the car seems to run fine as it did before the light came on then it "should" be ok until you have a chance to stop in so we can read the codes.

Oue CEL is solid, no flashes. Any clues? I have an appointment tomorrwo morning at Overby's here in Jacksonville for them to read the codes. I'd like to have some information on hand before I go in tomorrow.

Do a search on code retrieval.
Your car has a built-in LED code access system next to the battery for the CE light

Thank you Mr. Dalton. I have been searching the forum the last few minutes since my original post trying to find the code retrieval process.

I have yet to find a post detailing the procedure. I'll keep looking or if someone can post a link it would be appreciated. Thanks

BTW, I asked my wife when she last filled it with gas it was on MOnday of last week and the light came on the Friday of last week.

Thanks

I reset the code last night and the CEL has not come back on as of driving into work this morning

I just called Fast Line and spoke with Phil and I got a price on the valve in case I need one. I'll probably also check for the several other things that Mr. Dalton mentioned in an email and see what I find.

As a first time Mercedes owner I must say that the first time that CEL appeared I had a knot in my stomach. But now through research and helpful advice and info. from the forum members I feel good again. I love the fact that the car has the box with the LED in the engine bay Couldn't get any simpler in design and functionality.

With a new car line there is always a learning curve I am just entering the curve and I hope to learn much more along the way. My only cars over the last 5 years or so have been Miata. The Mercedes is our first "practical" car in a long while. Have a question about a Miata, ask away. I am extremely confident working on any aspect of the Miata's and soon I hope I will be the same with the Mercedes.
