There was a post asking if there was a VW engine in the V-Class Minivan. During a recent trip to the Dominican Republic, I was able to test drive a V230TD and wondered about it. The V280 has a 2792cc V-6 engine which is the same size as the VW unit. The new MB V-6 has a different displacement and only 3 valves/cylinder(the V280 has a 4 valve unit) I doubt the old inline six would fit in this front drive van(I only know of a transverse inline 6 in the Volvo S80). I was not able to verify if it is a VW engine or not but it makes you wonder... What else could it be?
