Could it be? My Holy Grail found?

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! After the last debacle, I'm not holding my breath though. I found a beautiful 1988 300E, charcoal/gr. The mileage is very low, the records are there and now I await the mechanic's OK. Last time it was a thumbs down. This one has had the head gasket changed already and was dealer maintained for everything literally by the book and all stamps are there.

One quick funny story. I went to a dealership that had a 300E for sale. I looked nice enough. I asked if they offered carfax reports and he said yes. He ran it, we both sat there and learned together that the mileage had been turned back over 50,000 miles a few years ago! I laughed and he went to get the manager who was on duty. Seems they forgot to run it themselves before they took it on a trade in!

Good luck on that one Ron. The M103 doesn't have the headgasket problem that the M104 has but if it's been changed, I guess it's ok. Saw on your other thread that you're out on the Island. Lots of W124's there, if this isn't the one, I'm sure you'll find a good one.

I hope it works out for you.

Let us know what the mechanic says, and if you buy, tell us all about the car and if there's anything we may be able to help you with.

Another GOD D Lemon!

This one was smacked pretty good in d. side rear. My mechanic went through the records and said they are having trouble aligning all 4 wheels so it was hit hard enough to bend the frame and it apparently is still not straight.

Time to keep looking. Oh, well.

Man, you have awfully bad luck.

Just keep looking - you'll find one.

Remember to look at cars that have long records of regular maintenance. Don't take their word for it, insist on examaning and taking home the hard copies of the actual receipts.
