on a 260E where is the termalstat.

On a 260E where is the termalstat and is it easy to get to. Is it located at the end of the radator hose connected to the engin block.

Friend benz is over heating. She took it in to a shop and they said $920 to replace the termalstat, radiator, and fan. They said the fan is not running fast enough. I am surprise they did not say to replace the pump also (why stop short just replace the entire cooling system).

It is located inside the "inverted looking cup"

between the upper radiator hose and the engine block. Take three or four bolts, remove the top and you sould be able to see it. Replace the thermostat first and see if that solves the problem. It sounds like somebody is trying to make some extra money... I wonder what kind of test they have done so far to come up with that conclusion.
