Name of this part?

I got around to charging my 134 converted a/c tonight and it turns out my Klima fears were off base as the system was simply low on 134. I charged it with 134 that has a dye that shows under black light. Of course it's amazing what you "see" when you actually "look". While charging the system, and paying close attention for the first time, it seems my dye was a waste of time.

If you measure from the low side filling connection about 4" to the front side of the car, I saw the rubber hose was cut. There's a cut around 3/4 of the circumference of the hose so that you can see the wire mesh support for the inner hose. I'll go out on a limb and guess this is my leak! Hopefully it's also the only one. I'll know after I run it for a few days and break out the black light. Too bad I don't know anyone with a Velvet Elvis or I could borrow their light!

So, can some one tell me the name of this hose? My car is a 1988 300SE.

Thanks,

Ron Brooks

Ron, you can take the hose off and take it to a place like "Tubes N Hoses" and they should be able to rebuild it for you. Make sure you tell them it is for r134 a/c service. Should be able to do it for around $100.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll look them up or find a similar shop.
