Help!

I was troubleshooting a wiper/washer problem (no squirt).

I had pulled the wiper relay and was looking for voltage from the combination switch, which was good. Turns out the pump is bad. I also was taking some voltage and resistance readings on the relay socket with a digital VM.

When I was finished, the car would start, but won't stay running--acts like ignition is shut off rather than starving for fuel.

All the fuses look ok. All the indicator lights come on with the key. All the electrical "stuff" (radio, lights, etc.)appears normal, and there's plenty of fuel.

Any help you can provide will be most appreciated.

Check for your 15 circuit at the ign.conrol unit with key and engine off. obvoiusly you have the 50 circuit. Do you have a ETM for you car?

I do have an ETM on CD--it leaves a bit to be desired. I'm not sure how to correlate ckt 15 with the diagrams that are in the ETM;there's no cross reference to any of the diagrams. However, I have a strong electronics background so I do know how to read and follow the ckt diagrams.

With that said, I'm not sure how to check ckt 15 to the ignition module with the key (power) off. Do you have a recommendation?

I do notice that fuse 7 feeds the wipers/washers, the heated washer nozzles (of which I blew some cleaner with compressed air through), the ignition module, and a host of other systems. This dosen't look good--I'm hoping that there is a easy fix and nothing got frapped.

Thanks for your reply, and if you have any other advice, I'm all ears.

Bob

Well, I fixed it. Seems that its brain got scrambled somewhere along the way while AI was working on the wiper/washer problem.

The fix was: I disconnected the battery for about 2 minutes, reconnected it, and everything is fine.

I have to tell you, I was really worried that I'd somehow ruined the Ignition Control Module ($1200). I can't tell how relieved I am that it wasn't.

Thanks for your earlier response.

Bob
