What is is this I keep hearing about metal chain reenforced donuts ?

I've had a couple of hangers break on the 81 300SD exhaust. The monster system looks like it weighs a ton, with twin resonators that join into a rear muffler. Usually one of the outer resonator hangers break.
Everything is stock MB stuff, so nothing's been rigged.

Thanks

Thanks, found it.
For some reason it gives back an error when the part number is entered in the search field, but the part number you gave me is correct. Just fyi.

107 492 00 44 worked fine for me. Are you sure you didn't include the period at the end or a leading space?

PartsShop price is $11.57 + shipping.

No - I made sure the period was not there.
Three attempts, came back as an error.
Just tried again and it worked.

Anyway, while we're at it, is this mainly to support the front two mufflers on the 126 diesels ? (81SD).
I guess there are two for each front mufflers ?
Would it be good enough to use just one each on the outer side of each muffler ?
Also, are these something MB introduced to counter these problems ?

I have IE and Netscape but, on an IBM. I don't have a MAC to use for troubleshooting. Maybe I'll bug my neighbor who has a MAC and see if I can duplicate the problem.

Thanks for the heads up.

FYI- Mercedes' list price on this part is $13.
