Does anyone know when the CD ROMS are going to be available for a 1992 500E? I would like to purchase body / chassis, electrical, and engine service manuals.

Call 1-800-for-mercedes.
FYI, these CD-ROMs will not work on Macs. Just in case you are a Mac user. |

My understanding is that the CD's have "everything" in one CD. It is not like the paper manuals where you can buy them separate. May be the somebody in Mercedes Shop can review the CD's and give us clues such as: easy to use, graphics, pictures, etc.

I have used them and they are pretty good I must admit. I like the books because of the ease of taking it to the car you are working on, but the CD works well if you only use it once in a while. Be sure to have a printer waiting!! You will want to print out some of the diagrams and such to use at the car.
The format is easy to use and navigate. ------------------ Benzmac: ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |

Since someone asked for opinions about the CD ROM manual, I'll give you mine.
I am not as impressed as Benzmac with the quality of the drawings and graphics, at least for the W107. Perhaps other series are better. I am making an assumption the the paper manuals are clear and readable. Most of the stuff I can make out, but the wiring diagrams leave a LOT to be desired. I also found the ETM a bit confusing to use. I orginally thought that a great deal of the pages were forgotten on the transfer, but I did manage to find all the drawings and pictures. Some of the pages remind me of the photocopies I've done out of reference books at the college--a little crooked and not real sharp. It is handy having all the manuals in one small space, and you can zoom in on any page, however the quality does not get better as the size increases. Would I buy the CD ROM again? Yes, but I would still prefer the paper manuals. My two cents. Bob Cavazos |
