I have a 1971 250C, I-6, 4 spd. auto that shifts from 1 to 2 at about 3-5mph, and from 3 to 4 at about 40mph. Are these the normal shift speeds. If not, how can I adjust them (mostly concerned about the 1 to 2 shift). Thanks.

1-2 sounds a little early. I'm not sure about the adjustment on this old of a car maybe someone else in here will know.

The early 1-2 shift is the way Mercedes, in all its wisdom, designed your transmission. Later models, of course, START in second gear.

Where does your trans shift into high? I was just on the road with my /8 and shifted regularly into fourth at about 65 mph. I was pushing the pedal a bit. ;-)
