I have a problem, my rear windows on my 300E are broken. One window is
broken in the down position, the other one broken in the closed position. My question is: Can I somehow raise the open window to the closed position until I can get it fixed. CarDude |

It depends on what the problem is. I would go to a shop near you and see if it is as simple as a switch. If not the door panel has to come off any way and you should fix it at that point.

I just had this same problem with my SD this past Labor Day weekend. I rolled the driver's side rear window down, and it wouldn't come back up... tried both switches to no avail. Pulled the door panel and the plastic "window regulator slider jaw" had broken. Was able to "wedge" a matchbook between the window and the bottom weather strip until I could get it fixed. It was a $7 part.

I dont understand, I have all the panels off now, were you able to get it up with the match book trick. I think I'm lost or mine is different than yours. COuld you give me more details please?

I had to lift up the window by hand. The plastic piece that slides along a channel at the base of the window had broken off. I could see the "arm" part moving when I pressed the window switch. It just had nothing to move against.
The matchbook was a suggestion by a local garage owner to keep the window up in case it rained before I could get it fixed right. (It broke on Friday night on a holiday weekend.) Luckily I already had an appointment set up for an oil change the following Tuesday and the shop was able to "R&R window regulator/motor assembly to replace slider jaw". Cost $158 with the oil change, and I had them pull the Kleen-Wheels dust shields off my front wheels. Not sure if the 300E is identical, but if you can see your motor moving an arm but the window doesn't move, very likely the slider jaw broke. ------------------ Robert W. The slider jaw is only on the 126. Most others need the whole regulator assy to repair because the cable drive is at fault.
