Hello,
In the Mercedes Service Manual for Chassis & Body, Volume 1 there are some spring specifications in Group 32/Job# 250/2. It lists the part number; Spring Displacement at 1000 N load; Coil thickness "d"; and Test force at spring length (in N and mm). Now to my question: is possible to determine which springs are longer/shorter and softer/firmer by the table provided? I would think that given lengths, a higher test force would likely mean a stiffer spring rate. As always, all input is appreciated. Thanks, Joe Slemp 1986 300E |

Sportline springs or 400E springs are are the best way to go on a 300E. The 400E springs would have to be shortened.

I have just ordered the Sportline kit from the PartsShop. If anyone is interested, I can post a before and after body height/handling impressions, etc.

Hi,
I would be very interested in the results of your Sportline conversion. I am close to trying it myself. James Lee 86 300E |
