I've been using Valvoline Maxlife's 10w-40 in the winter, and their 20w-50 in anything wrong with that? I've heard a lot of people swear by the Rotella 15w-40, thinking about trying it.

It's all about preference. I need some oil filters. I'm due for a change. Last oil change one of the stupid metal tabs that holds the screw for the belly pan went inside the frame. Yaaar

The oil pan on my car has never come off (at least since I have owned it).

An extractor (Tempo "Oil Boy") makes life so much easier and I actually look forward to oil changes -- doing them more frequently than necessary.

M104 engine oil

background info...94 e320, about 74,000 miles, full maintenance history (all entries show 15w-40), reside in Jacksonville, FL, driven by wife in non enthusiastic driving style, 3500 mile oil change intervals

I use 10w30 in my Miatas, non synthetic, change at 2500 miles mainly because I like wrenching on the Miatas
Mercedes put fully synthetic 5W/40 oil in my M104 engine when I bought it from them and it's had the same ever since. Always 5W/40 but various makes. I've never been that desperate about the oil as long as it's 5W/40 Fully Synthetic.

Engine's fine after 20 years and 370 K KMs.

Synthetic oil from the factory in a 104 motor 20 years ago? That can't be right.

15/40 Rotella T Dino- 7 qts exactly. 5K interval changes.

Car has 155K k miles and climbing and has NO NOTABLE USE BETWEEN CHANGES. Heck, oil looks almost as good coming out as the stuff going in.

Can't beat that with a Tank. This is one hell of an automobile.

That was about 10 years before synthetic oil from the factory.
