W124 Power steering box and stuff :( My car is broken now :(
Well here we go again. Last night I got home, exited the freeway, power steering acting up: I lost all PS fluid. I drove home real quick and stopped driving.
I had a ps leak back in july when i got the car. Took it to indie shop, he fixed it for big $$, then 2-3 months ago, same thing again. I Took it back to him, he fixed it for free. Now again. ARgh. HE said it was sometihng like the lower O ring or something. MBZ said it's the power steering box, and that u shouldn't attemp to fix it , but rather change it. When I asked them how much to replacce, they told me $1500. yea I think not. So anyone knowledgable in this matter to direct me to what do do? Thanks.

Bad news, dude. My local, reputable, MB-specialist indie garage finds my steering box in need of replacement--not urgently, but before any of several other things I ought to have done by next winter (my MB's a 560SL, warm-weather only in Michigan, meaning April/May through October or so). In round numbers, the box is $900 and there's another $250 in labor. If you do have it done, have them check the ball joints as well; I've got one that's worn enough to be eligible for replacement, for another $225 (parts and labor together).
They're great cars and they'll last forever--but not without work along the way!

Fastlane lists the 124 boxes for $450-$550 depending on what your VIN# is, or you could try to get used. I needed a new one because mine was 'self tightening' so I pulled the one off my parts car and installed it.
My old box was dripping a few drops overnight & did not loose much noticable from the resevoir so the mechanic resealed it & never a problem since. Sounds like you had a catastrophic loss. If your mechanic cannot reseal a box properly he should not do them at all, sounds like your box was already screwed up from something else, or he doesn't know what he's doing and owe's you a freshly rebuilt box.

A-1 Professional Benz and Beemer in Anaheim, CA is a great place to buy used parts. They are a used car lot, wrecking yard, service and repair facility.
They have a warehouse that'll knock your socks off with parts from the floor to the ceiling on pallets. My dad bought a nearly new steering box from a 1989 560 SEL that was totalled in wreck for his W126.
