2001 C320 Coolant Check Level Light

the last couple of days my check coolant light has displayed on my screen when I first start the car up in the morning. After that the rest of the day it is fine. I checked the overflow tank it is fine. Before I take it in, if it was easy I would do it my self. Any suggestions? By the way I did a search but didn't find the answer.

Maybe something to do with the coolant level sensor that trips the light in the cabin?

Have you checked it cold? Being that fluid expands when it is hot, it can be below the sensor when cold and appear OK when hot.

I know this sounds dumb but on my 99 SLK230, I had this problem. After replacing two or three coolant level sensors under warranty, someone discovered that the sensor circuit was tied into the windshield washer fluild level as well. After that, I keep the windshield washer fluid topped up as well and it has never happened again.
