my sunroof is stuck open, the motor whirls, but nothing happens any clues on the parts i need and how to fix. Also auto tranny shifts into 2nd at 23mph and into 3rd at 40mph. Furthermore, dash lights turn signals and glove box light do not work, fuse is good. I need a little help. thaks in advance. josh

First the sunroof. Since you can hear the motor running, is it just whirring or is it a loud grating sound? Since the roof is stuck open, you may want to start by carefully snapping the front of the sunroof headliner down from the sunroof. Then you can slide the liner back and inspect if the cable is still attached. From this point it could be the cable, motor, the cable tube or any combination of the three. No crystal ball here, got to D&A and inspect.

Second: Look real close at all of the fuses, hairline cracks are easy to overlook, and that sounds like the path to go down first.

Last, check the transmission bowden cable on top of the valve cover, the freeplay should be only a couple of millimeters. Beyond that it can get conplicated over the phone, er, over the internet.
