C280 dip stick

I just bought a 1997 C280 and there is no owners manual. On the front of the engine there is a dip stick with a red top. Is this the oil? Now in the left rear there is a tube that looks like a dip stickshould go.What is this for? Someone told me the tranny is sealed and there is no dip stick.

The one at the back passenger side of the block is the tranny dipstick tube. The cap is locked in place with a pin, and there is no dipstick inside. This is where the tranny fluid level can be measured with the special shop tool dipstick. The one towards the front on the right is the engine oil.
