Tumbler won't turn

The tumbler of my 1987 300E will not turn. My son evidently inserted my BMW key into the ignition by mistake. I lubricated the tumblers but the key has difficulty going all the way in and once I get it fully inserted it will not turn.

Any sugestions?
Smiles.

do a seach about tumblers on the forum. eventually i hope u get it to turn. and when u do, get it out. my tumbler was stuck a month ago, and i got it turning the next day. but then the day after that it was stuck again, this time i had to park it in front of my GF's house for over half a month. finally just today i got a new tumbler in. cost for tumbler = $90, cost to cut it our $600. i'd like to think that i was very lucky i got it out again. it came out in 3 pieces.

oh for my advice if u can't get it to turn try ordering another fresh key. did the trick for me. good luck

One or more pins are probably stuck.
You might try to shock the pins loose. I little judicious whacking on the inserted key or the cylinder housing might shake it loose.
Take the panel off to get good access for a proper whacking.

If you do get it loose, you may want to replace it before it jams again. It's much easier to remove while unlocked.
