My car is an '87 Euro 300D, and works fine except for the tachometer.

Tachometer endicates erratically when engine is cold and not running, and ignition switch is in "on" position. Tach indicates properly after engine is started, hot or cold.

After atarting the engine and allowing the temperature to increase, tach indicates normally after shutting down and turning the ignition switch back to on. Normally would be zero "0" because engine is not running.

Problem is very minor but I know it's not normal. Has anyone experienced this and know the fix?

Thank you

It sounds as if you are having a ground problem when the glow plugs are on. They pull alot of current and will show any weakness in the electrical system.
