The ABS is the Anti lock Braking System. This light comes on if there is a malfunction with the system. If you pop the hood (bonnet) and look you should see the ABS unit next to a huge hydraulic fluid bottle in the front of the engine bay. One of the most common problems is the failure of the ABS sensor wires which are located behind the front wheels.

What year is the car?

When does the light come on? it should come on when the ignition is switched on then go out when the engine starts. If it comes on after a couple of miles , then resets when you restart, it could be an underinflated tyre or odd sized tyres.

How long have you had the car and how long has this been going on for?
