Where can I get service manuals for my 99 SLK. I need them to install a hands-free car kit (NOT Mercedes) for my Qualcomm/SPRINT phone. In particular, I need the wiring diagram and information to safely remove interior trim pieces.

You will not be able to find the manuals for a reasonable cost. What you need is a friend at the dealer to give you the wiring diagram. I have installed a hands free kit and it was so cool. It would mute the radio (factory wire) and it would play out of the speaker of the muted radio.
