In case you were wondering, I got mine at www.powerbulbs.com. They have blue ones, and they also have a great selection of all sorts of bulbs.... for H4 bulbs people say the Philips Vision Plus are great....I am going to try them.

At least in the past, and probably even now, it's illegal in some European countries to use full headlights in cities. The cars are fitted with low-wattage bulbs that light the headlights at a level that I'd describe as white but not bright. It's enough for a little illumination and certainly enough to show for other drivers but not enough to cause any glare issues. The light switch will hit these in the usual "parking light" position, between off and headlights. The lights used for marking the car when parked will be the one-side-only lights activated when the switch is turned counterclockwise, with the first click lighting the right of the car and the second the left.

BTW, it also used to be illegal to use the regular horn in cities except in a true emergency, which led to some cars having a second soft horn (eg for warning the pedestrian about to step in front of you). Is that still the case?

I just bought Depo Euros for the 190e. I need a source for the H4 main beams. I would like to get Sylvania Silver Stars or something not blue, not PIA etc. Any suggestions?

Am I correct in assuming that I can move the existing fog bulbs right over to the new headlights?

The Silver Stars I got at Autozone are okay. www.danielsternlighting.com says that the European equivalent of Silver Stars are better. Had I known before I got the Autozone variety, I probably would have spent more for the European bulbs.

marked Osram-Geramny, they are the brighter europes-ebay, they do not sell these in US stores. Sylvania (owned by Osram-Germany)is the US DOT approved.

Can i get an H5 Osram silver star-Geramany bulb for my 1993 w124? autozone just has the US 9004st Sylvania ($19 each).

Silverstar bulbs for $19 each? That's fairly cheap. Try ebay or do a google search for a european store that can ship some euro silverstars to the US.

While I'm here I might as well ask. Is there an aftermarket source for THESE kind of european headlights?

Are you sure about that?

Hmmm,

The 126 ended production in 1991 well before the invention of xenon headlamp technology...... To be quite honest I think it would look funny on a car that old to have xenon headlights...... Are you doing this for an appearance upgrade or just for additional light? You would be amazed at how much light the european lamps put out on their own with standard halogen bulbs. Additionally without an automatic leveling system you may be blinding other drivers. A head on crash with a night blind blue haired old woman in a Lincoln Townhouse would easily outweigh any visual benefit.

I have factory installed Euro lamps on my 126. http://beostar.paunix.org/newmbzpics

I have thought about xenons on my 140 but will probably hold off because I would want the factory components rather than go aftermarket. While the headlamp units look the same on the outside they are somewhat different on the inside as I think there is a leveling system on the xenon headlamp.
