Hi All,
My 90 300CE's front rotors are warped. I have a chance to pickup some 300E (same vintage) slotted front rotors for relatively cheap. Are these 2 cars' rotors interchangeable? TIA!

Tony

By the year yes, the CE and E will have the same front brakes. Most years of the early cars are the same. There are a number of different discs on the 93- 124 cars.

I do not like the slotted disks. I have had bad luck with them, that is why you are getting them cheap I'll bet.

What kind of problems did you encountered with them? Were they OEM (i.e. ATE) or aftermarket? How about the crossdrilled ones, I see the new S-class is coming with them as a factory option. What do you think of those? Thanks for sharing your expertise.

I used to have a 90 300CE and the brakes, at least the calipers as I remember, were different, being 4 piston. My application books are all in my office (I'm at home now)
so measure your rotor dimensions, thickness and diameter, to be sure of interchange.

Porsche used slotted rotors on all the 928s and had no problems as they are less prone to cracking as drilled and still serve the purpose of releasing gas buildup between the rotor and brake pad. I've slotted my own for my 190/5.0 on my milling machine using a ball end mill to my own pattern...no problem.

Heh.
re: Benzmac reply
actually, I'm not getting them cheap. These are cadmium plated Powerslots for ~ $180/pair. Not exactly 'cheap' for rotors, IMHO.

re: Tobias
