I have a 1994 SL600. My asr unit light is on. My acceleration is sluggish. The dealer changed unit and problem still there. Any help?

You will have to have the onboard self-diagnostics monitored. If you really feal up to it I can tell you how to read the codes on your car with a logic probe or led. 1994 is the last year impulse counting was used except for a few systems.

As long as the system has that level of code it will stay in the "limp home" mode, which limits throttle range and backs off ignition timing.

This is an advanced level repair and you will need some books to repair, I'd take back and tell the dealer to try again!

When the key is turned on all of the computers are supposed to start talking, but if there is a fault the computer may stumble & not talk as soon as it's supposed to. Many times the problem w/ASR is safety neutral switch or brake lamp switch, or even misadjusted accel cable. A complete computer diagnostic is needed to formulate the problem. Also the left throttle actuator can fail & cause this fault. Listen to MAC & take car back for further diagnosis.

The dealer has had the car for two weeks already and I am hoping that you could suggest something that the dealer is missing. The car went to the dealer with an engine problem (Gasket intake) and left with the ASR problem which is still unsolved. The light comes on after about 4 miles of driving and resets itself when the car is off and comes back when started and moving again.
