I am coming up on the 60K service what should I expect to be performed? I checked the owners manual was unclear after reading.

How much of this could/can be performed at home. I would expect to do the basic stuff like air filter, plugs, etc.. stuff like that.

Lastly how much should I should expect to $$ to have this service performed? Ball park est. is fine.

thanks..jim

You can do almost everything at home because most of the things that they do are "Check" (i.e. lights, fuel lines, etc.), or cleaning the cassette heads. I paid the money when I bought my 300d used just so that I could have the dealer go over it. The bill was over $500! I suggest pulling out the maintainance manual that came with the car and do everything that you feel comfortable with THEN make a list of what you DON'T feel comfortable with and visit your dealer. I'll bet that it will be a LOT less. BTW: document everything that you do so if there's ever a question about maintainance you can produce records that you yourself really DID the maintainance.

BTW: If you didn't get a maintainance manual with your car call 1-800-forMercedes. They can provide information on how to order one.

I would recommend to take it to the shop. Even though some is checking, we have the YEARS of experience to know what normally is going wrong. If you do all other services at home, that is fine. Take the Majors to the techs and save your car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not all people on this site see things my way, but I have 2,000+ customers that rely on me to keep them running. Please take my advise and support your local shop.
