I had a similar problem when I did a swap in a 560 SEL I had connected the gear shift wrong with the gears in the tranny. I had the tranny in neutral and attached it while the shifter was in park. The car ran but not like it should of it was an easy fix pu the tranny in reverse --look for back up lights then put shifter in reverse and attach. hope that helps
