I tried checking my ATF level today at the dipstick and kept getting different readings.
After about 1/2hr of driving, I stopped at my local Autozone to check the level, with the engine running and trans. in park I got a reading of 'min' on 2 tries. I picked up some fluid, but not having my service manual i went back home to check the amount needed for top-up. When I went to re-check the level, it was now up to the max level. I tried again, on the 2nd attempt more fluid was smeared up one side, past the 'max' level! Is this the long bendy dipstick/pipe making it hard to read? I decided not to add any xtra fluid yet. Any ideas how to getting an accurate reading? Shifting is quite hard at the moment, though from what I read that's a fairy common 300E trait...
