My car is an '87 Euro 300D. Since last week, my transmission seems to be flairing at 2-3 and 3-4 shifts a few miles after engine start-up, then shifts normally threafter. This happens after the car has been parked for 4 hours or more. It seems like the ATF in the clutches have drained to the sump, and takes some time to refill.

Is this a sign that my tranny needs a repair, or replacement of some seals?

What can I do to bring it back to it's normal condition?

Thanks a lot.

I would allow a tech to look at this. If properly diagnosed, you could save some money both ways.

If it is infact a bad tranny, you will save money if the tech doesn't try some sort of repair that doesn't work.

On the other hand, if it just needs a repair, a complete replacement would be wasteful. A good tech will go a long way.

Thanks for the advise. I'll have it checked by a tech.

I'm planning to do DIY on this transmission though. Do you know where I can get a parts & service manual for my tranny
