E320 Cup Holder Door Broken

I would appreciate some advice. The center consol cup holder door will not stay closed. And it makes a "scraping" sound as it nears the bottom of it's swing. Is there an easy way to fix this? Must I remove the center consol to get at the mechanism? If so, how do I remove it? Thanks for the help.
