If you had the hydropneumatic suspension, with a couple people in the vehicle and you turned off the vehicle and got out of it, you would see the car slowly lower itself after about 2-3 seconds. Also if you see springs, then you know you don't have it. Hydropneumatic suspension uses hydraulic fluid vs. nitrogen as your components for ride stability.
I was just wondering Benzman, cuz my '84 500SEL Euro DOES have it. Maybe yours only has it on the rear suspension. ------------------ FrankieZ 84 500SEL EURO 87K 85 300D 267K (and still goin' strong) |

From what I've heard, when the system is working it is smoother than any conventional suspension. I just need to replace my nitrogen spheres and it should be as good as new.

fz500sel:
You said, "If you have springs, then you don't have hydropnuematic (HP) suspension". Is the 500-series different than the 190E 2.3-16V series HP suspension? My 1986 2.3-16V has HP rear suspension AND rear springs, hmmm . . . Brian |

I think that you have hydraulics in the rear, the reason I say this, is I was looking at your pic of your engine compartment, and I see the hydraulic pump there. It's the thing to the right of your powersteering hoses, and it looks like it has 4 or 5 (five i think) green steel lines going to it. Matter of fact, shouldn't there be a black little screwtop lid for the resevoir?
Oh, and I noticed that your coil wire is blue but the rest look black, or is that just an illusion? |
