w210 . 606 Fan Clutch and tensioner - help needed ASAP!

I am really in a bind and am hoping you guys can help out. I need to use my car for hoiday traveling and recently noticed a few problems:

1) A few months ago I replaced my tensioner shock because it was rattleing and was told that the bushings go W210.606. I was later told the I should have done the spring too. I did the belt at the same time. Last week I noticed the belt squeaking. This morning the belt is and tensioner was flopping all over the place. I undrestand now that I should replace the tensioner spring

What is the correct way to do this?

2) As I was looking at my tensioner, I spun my fan and it kept spinning. Does this mean that I need to do my fan clutch too?

Help is appreciated as time is short. Thanks.

Is this car really a 210.606 car? That would be a E220 CDI model.

It's not as confusing if you use the numbers properly. Since you stated 210.606 and since there exists a 210.606 chassis one can never know.

Your title shows you own a 1996 E300D which is a 210.020 car. But by the weirdest of numerical conincidences does have a 606 motor. Thus the question, do you really have a E220 CDI 210.606 car?

But if you have a 210.020 car these would be the tentioning parts:

Thanks for the clarification on the chasis/engine nomenclature. I am refering to my '96 E300. I will be sure to state "w210 with 606" in the future.

As to the task at hand, thanks also for the diagram. My question would be what do I need to do to replace 107?

1) Remove 119 and 83?

2) Somehow remove tension on 107 by applying torque cc to 5 through what appears to be an allen

3) Simple stretch 107 into and out of place?

Thanks in advance for any additional help!!

The block #83 can be pivoted to release the tention on the spring.

The shock should be replaced if you are flopping around. Also look at the pivot lever. As it wears out the pulley is not at right angle to the belt and will cause the pulsing that wears out a shock in no time.
