Bought the 97 C280 Sport new @ $36,500 plus tax and license.
Bought a 1982 300SD, EBay, at the end of 2002, 147,000 miles, $2500. Put about another $1500 in her so far. Just needs driver's seat springs and pad now. Runs great. Just bought a 1987 420SEL, EBay, 114,000 miles, at $3500. Had it shipped up and just bought 4ea. 8 hole 16" rims with new Pirellis on EBay for $365 (including the shipping - got lucky on this one). So with shipping the car up, the tires/wheels, and a few minor items, have about $4800 in it and is a dream. Now I'm going to take my time and find a Black/Black 560SEC to round off my 126 stable.

I purchased a 2003, S55, loaded, in November 2002 for $117,000 which included taxes, lincenses, and all fees. I have had the problem from Nov that the battery will not hold a charge. taking it to second dealership this coming week.

Rooney4, I'm sorry to hear that the service department at your dealership is not stepping up to the plate. I have been disappointed in Mercedes service departments also. I'm sure some are better than others so I hope the second one is. I just went through a nightmare situation with my 95 diesel. I find that the techs on this website know more than anything a service department tells you. These techs from this website have NEVER been wrong for either my stuff or my brother's stuff. Amazing.
Anyway, congratulations on your beautiful car, I saw it in a showroom recently when I just bought a Starmarked 2000 320e 4 matic ($31,500) with 34,000 miles on it. I think all the kinks have been worked out. |

Bought my 1990 300E in December for $1500 USD. Owner was told that it needed a $6000 engine rebuild because of smoking exhaust. Cost me about $50.00 in Gaskets and Valve guide seals and about three hours of a Saturday morning to fix. Now have a beautiful car that runs like a dream. Oh yeah, its got over 300,000 miles and does not use more than a quart of oil in 3,000 miles.

Hello Everbody!!
Just finished reading all 10 pages of this thread and wow!! I think it is the best EVER. And, since joining this forum, I have read most of 'em. Yeah, someimes at night I read this stuff for hours at a time. It's better than reading a novel; yea, in a way it is a novel. Cheers!, Bill ![]()

1984 300SD bought in 2003 for $1850.
spent about $500 more in repairs. has some minor rust, but everything runs fine, so i think its a good deal.

paid $3900 for a 1990 300E (actually a 260E) in dec 03.
needs a head rebuild. +/- $1800 (accepting donations!!!! ![]() PO installed sony tape deck and cd changer. ive installed 6 speakers and amplifier $530 sun visor clip $10 drivers seatback adjuster. Free. not the actual seat adjuster, but the thing that looks like a seat that you move to manipulate the seat. not as fun as my 1976 BMW 2002. but so much better and smoother at very illegal speeds. with amenities and space my 02 could never even imagine. i think i got a great deal, head needing a rebuild or not. seller wanted $5000.

I paid $1000 for my '82 300CD with 175,000 miles. It was not running, but only needed battery cables. I think I got a pretty good deal.
