Window problem: window won't move

My driver's side window on my 98 CLK320 "popped" when I tried to lower it today. The "pop" occurred when it was at the top (rolled up). Now, the window seems to be off the track because the motor works with the up/down switch but the window does not move. In addition, the window moves independently when I push down on the glass and pull up on the glass.

My warranty has run out and I don't have a good enough relationship with the dealer to have it fixed under "goodwill".

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I'm sure I'll have to end up removing the door panels. If someone can help me with that or has any other advice, please let me know.

Thanks for the help!
