2 questions
1).
Has anyone ever replaced the sliding sunroof in their car with a moonroof?
Is it even possible to do this?
I was thinking this would be a good idea since my current sliding roof isnt working and i really dont like being only able to slide the roof back and forth.
2). Does anyone know what the factory tint percentages were for 190s in 1985?
Does the tint do a good job on the sun or would darker be the way to go?
Thanks
doug

Doug:

Don't know what the laws are there in your area, but in California it's a "no-no" to tint the driver or front passenger side windows. Anything rearward is ok to tint. I've had two (4-door) Mercedes tinted with 50% on the four windows and 35% on the rear. Haven't been stopped for tinted windows, although I've rolled my front windows down many times prior to passing a CHP sitting on the side of the road . Personally, I think the 50% is a good compromise on looks, performance (sun block), and safety (not too dark, especially when night visibility is critical). Remember, an outside observer will be looking through 2 sets of tint, so it'll look darker to them than a person on the inside. This is especially true if you have a dark interior, then it'll really look dark to an outsider.

Anothern from California, where front tint is illegal...Any amount of tint helps to cool the interior of vehicles, as well as block UV light which can degrade upholstery, etc. On two cars, I ran 20% behind the front and 95% on the two fronts.

Remember with tinting, the percentage indicates light transmission, not light blockage. 95% is nearly clear, but it cuts glare and provides a little shade to front seat occupants. On the rear, 20% is a good tint for keeping rear seat occupants cool and comfortable and dimming the effects of highbeams in the rearview.

With 20% or limo tint (5%), expect the local police to treat you a little differently should they happen to walk up on your car, as they won't be able to see inside, especially at night.
