What do you think we should bid upto? my dad and I were thinking $4,000 would make the car a pretty good deal. Let me knwo of any over-all opinions, and if anyone is located near it, let me know. Here is the link. If we bought it, I would end up flying out there next weekend probably. I think it would be neat to drive it back that far but am kind of nervous because it is an unknown and a long ways away. Just now looked, it is about 8 hours away, that's about 2-3 hours less than I thought it would be. I sent them an e-mail 2 hours ago asking if they know of the chain and rails ever being done. I doubt they would though.

Shines up well and looks nice in the pics.

It's described as a 6 cylinder, hopefully that's a typo -- otherwise it could be a sign they have no idea what's on their hands.

No records or stamped books? The timing chain/rails/tensioner issue, I'd hope it was done by 143K. A/C function properly?

I'd be hard pressed to consider it w/o any sort of service documentation. Can you get a PPI before putting any $$ down?

Since it's from NY, I'd expect to see some signs of rust. Maybe in the trunk area, seams below the brakelights etc. If the exhaust system is original, my guess is that it would need replacing soon.

There's got to be some W126s lumps out there with decent records.

Just a few nits from the pictures:

- there's some bubbling and rust on the trailing edge of the radiator frame above the right headlight.

- the coolant level in the reservoir looks a little low

- what are those wires along the shifter console? Add-on CD changer?

- there's a gap between the left front fender and bumper. Might be remnants of a parking lot incident.

Description says nothing about mechanical condition. Intentional omission?

If I was closer I would look at it for you. Could you call the guy, sometimes you can get a better feel from talking to him. I would have to look at it before I would bid though.
btw, don't worry about the bumper there cheap to find used, so are the euro ones. About $150 seems to be there going rate.
